Why Reddit mods need to declare their intent to opt out to their subreddits?

The admins of PullPush acknowledge that the Reddit users are the copyright owners of their content. And regardless of that, EU citizens have a right to be forgotten under the GDPR (regardless of whether the data processed contains personally identifiable information), which has been successfully enforced against non-EU entities. Residents of the State of California have similar rights under CCPA with fines of up to $7,500 per violation, and there are numerous other regulations regarding a right of an individual private person to remove their data from a service.

Since Pullpush admins are regularly smug with their comments on the removal process, often accompanied with bizarre requirements from people who moderate or used to moderate a subreddit at any point regardless of the current state of their account, I hope to save all of us a lot of legal posturing and annoying debates by asking these questions in public:

Would Pullpush admins comply with a valid DMCA takedown request, given that they acknowledge the comment authors are the owners of the copyrighted material?
Would Pullpush admins comply with a valid GDPR "right to be forgotten" request?
If the answer to either of these questions is "no", could you please elaborate why are you confident that you're in compliance with these regulations, or if you do not care, how confident are you in getting away with it?

If you want to remove something, open a ticket. The only group that so far has 100% refusal rate is Reddit moderators since none of them would declare opt outs to their communities.

Not really that surprising given that job offer of "moderate for power kicks so Reddit can make money" will not attract psychologically healthy people.

As to the rest of your post I assume you are American, Europeans usually realise that laws apply in things called "countries", and that those thingies are different from USA states (well, except for Georgia, but you won't get that joke). Just because you have laws that apply across different states doesn't mean the rest of the world has to follow them.

Since you think that a company selling GDPR compliance software in US is a reliable source on what can be enforced in US, I officially lost hope.

I agree with you actually, the position of reddit moderator isn't conducive of psychologically healthy people. But then why would you punish former moderators who don't want to be a part of that anymore?

From what I've read in the links in this post and your replies to them, this comes across as extortion. You'll delete data of former mods, but only if they first give you massive free advertising for this site; outing themselves in the biggest way possible in the process.

The natural result of telling a large community that data online will soon be deleted, regardless of what that data is, is that plenty of members in said community would archive it right away. Nobody trying to delete their data would ever want to draw attention to their data like that, which leads me to believe you demanding that from former mods is an indirect way of just saying "no", without directly saying no and rejecting removal requests from them outright

First of all, I'm the admin of this site. There is no need to use alt accounts. Even if this wasn't obvious, I can see your IP. I appreciate that this is a habit for reddit mods, but it is a pointless one.

We are already saying flat no to anyone dealing with cryptocurrency in any way because of high prevalence of scams in that community.

The reason why Reddit moderators are asked to declare is high prevalence of paedophilia among "power mods" in charge of large subreddits. I appreciate why they want to hide, I'm just not going to enable that.

That's a relatively small subset of moderators, but from what I can gather, you're putting these requirements on all moderators, not just "power mods". Why?

If you're genuinely judging according to your morality, which I'm not here to debate, why do you place your requirements on all moderators, instead of the ones that you reasonably suspect to fit your criteria? You have the data, you can check for yourself, presumably. I would hazard that most mods who put in removal requests will very clearly have nothing to do with any of that.

I would also appreciate if you answered OPs questions in good faith. I am not trying to be inflammatory, but to be completely honest, it just seems like you don't like anyone who is or has been a Reddit moderator, and you're poorly hiding that behind lofty ideals.

I hope I am wrong about that, but you just do not come across as reasonable, and it seems that others here are getting the same impression. If that impression is wrong, I do hope that you will consider and correct us.
